My name is Stephanie Rath-Tickle and I live in Lopatcong, NJ with my husband Glen, my English pointer Elvis, my rats Sery and Nory, and my degus Barnum and Bailey. I received degrees in Business Administration and Literature from Ramapo College of NJ and a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from Rutgers University. I work full-time as a local government auditor and part-time as a public librarian.
I started Mischievous Kitty Jewelry because I felt I needed a bit more creativity in my life. I first started making jewelry when I was about 11 years old, but stopped after middle school. After more than a decade-long hiatus, I decided that I missed it, and it was time to put those entrepreneurship courses I took in college to use!
Who is Michievous Kitty?
Mischievous Kitty is my grandmother, Province Catherine Carita. One night when I was working at the reference desk at the library, a patron asked to see an old yearbook from the 1930s. Even though I'd been working at the library for years, this was the first time it occurred to me to look up my grandparents' yearbook photos. When I found my grandmother's picture, I saw that her nickname in high school was "Mischievous Kitty." She passed away before I was born, so this little insight into her personality made me appreciate my library even more.
When I was trying to think of a name for my company, Mischievous Kitty seemed like it would be a perfect fit! It sounded fun and playful, and it has ties to my past, to a member of my family I unfortunately never got the chance to know. I hope I'll make her proud!
